Description

Under AB 1759, as of July 1, 2023, the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) mandates that both licensure applicants and current licensees complete a minimum of three hours of training on the provision of mental health services via telehealth. This training covers relevant law and ethics as well as clinical applications pertaining to telehealth practices; this session is specifically designed to meet the requirements.

In this course, participants will review key legal provisions, including the Business & Professions Code §2290.5, ethical guidelines, clinical applications, and also explore the technological aspects of telehealth. Whether you're already running a telehealth practice or just getting started, this training will ensure you understand and adhere to industry standards, keeping your license compliant and practice effective.

Join us to deepen your understanding of telehealth and ensure your services meet the highest standards of care and compliance. Participants are encouraged to participate throughout the training.

Learning Objectives

In successfully completing and attending this workshop, participants will be able to:
  1. Identify four actions California BBS licensees and registrants must take when initiating telehealth services.
  2. Describe three essential steps therapists must follow during each telehealth session with clients.
  3. Explain two key aspects of telehealth implementation, including logistical and clinical considerations.
  4. Identify two critical elements of security and privacy in remote care.
  5. Discuss at least one ethical boundary issue specific to telehealth practice.
