Description

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a complex condition that requires precise, evidence-based interventions. This continuing education program will focus on enhancing the effectiveness of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold-standard treatment for OCD, by deepening understanding of the mechanisms of change within cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Participants will explore the CBT model of OCD, examine the factors that maintain symptoms, and learn how different theoretical models of OCD compare and contrast. The session will also highlight common pitfalls in ERP implementation and provide strategies to ensure treatment fidelity and effectiveness.

Educational Goals/Learning Objectives

In successfully completing and attending this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the CBT model of OCD and identify the primary factor that maintains OCD.
  2. Recognize three ways in which the two different models of OCD differ and ways in which they are similar.
  3. Identify two ways by which effective ERP may not be implemented.
